Walkinshaw Andretti United and Mobil 1 will extend their partnership into a 27th year, with the motor oil giant announced as a co-naming rights partner for both cars this season. Mobil 1’s backing of the Walkinshaw organisation dates back to 1994, when the squad then known as the Holden Racing Team fielded drivers Peter Brock and Tomas Mezera.
The combination has since combined for eight Bathurst 1000 wins and eight drivers’ championships, enjoying particular success through the late 90s and 2000s.
WAU this morning announced Mobil 1 branding will again feature on the bonnet for their two 2020 ZB Commodores as part of a new multi-year deal.
Star recruit Chaz Mostert has been confirmed as one of their drivers, with an announcement on their second seat understood to be nearing.
WAU director Ryan Walkinshaw thanked Mobil 1 for their unwavering support.
“The loyalty and support Mobil 1 have shown us throughout the entire 27 years is something our team, and my family, are forever thankful for,” he said.
“Their product, as the world’s leading synthetic oil is unquestionable, but it’s their loyalty and support that makes them the company they are.
“When people think of our team, they think Mobil 1; it’s an iconic relationship that rivals any in world motorsport, and we all look forward continuing our journey together for 2020 and beyond.”
Fellow directors Michael Andretti and Zak Brown echoed those sentiments.
“It’s so exciting to be able to announce our continued relationship with Mobil 1™, taking the total to an incredible 27 years,” Andretti said.
“The team has shared some fantastic success with Mobil 1 across the journey, and I have no doubt that will continue into the future.”
Brown added: “The Mobil 1 relationship with Walkinshaw Andretti United is one that is renowned across the globe, and for good reason.
“It’s an incredible association that we are lucky enough to have, and one that we truly value.”
The team will reveal their Commodores’ colours in the lead-up to the February 18 pre-season test at Tailem Bend.
