New ACEA Specifications – ACEA C5 and ACEA C6
We’ve recently introduced Mobil Super 3000 Formula VC 0W-20 (ACEA C5) to meet increasing OEM demand.
This engine oil to the European specification ACEA C5 is focused on fuel economy. Further, we are seeing enquires regarding the new specification ACEA C6 with further tests for low-speed pre-ignition and turbocharger deposits.
ACEAC C5 lubricants are designed for use in high-performance gasoline and light-duty diesel engines. They provide an increased focus on improved fuel economy and are suitable for use alongside advanced after-treatment systems such as Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) and Three Way Catalysts (TWC). Essentially a 0W-20 viscosity version of the ACEA C2/C3 oils.
With Mobil Super 3000 Formula VC 0W-20 (ACEA C5) the relatively low viscosity (at 40C) of 41.6cst implies a focus on fuel economy.
This is balanced with the higher viscosity index so as not to give away too much viscosity when the oil is at very high temperatures.
Looking further forward, with the increased usage of Turbo Charged Gasoline Direct Injection (TDGI) Engines, we are seeing the introduction of new tests to bring a focus on the prevention of phenomenon such as Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI), Turbocharger deposits. This will be ACEA C6.
The Right Oils, in the Right place, in the Right quantity, at the Right time.
