Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Hazell Bros transport company and their long history with the Mobil brand. Statewide Oil is proud to collaborate with our valued customer and partner Hazell Bros Group, one of Tasmania’s leading suppliers of quarry and concrete products as well as construction and logistics services. As both are family-owned businesses, we share a strong commitment to quality, safety, and reliability.
In the past, Hazell Bros has been a heritage transport provider for Mobil fuels. The Statewide Oil team, together with one of the current directors of Hazell Bros, Robert Hazell, have uncovered some nostalgic photos that highlight our shared journey.
Hazell Bros Bedford Truck (1955-1959)
Among our vintage discoveries were images of the Hazell Bros Bedford Truck from 1955-1959, as well as the Hazell Bros Mack Truck delivering fuel to Margate yard around 1983. These iconic vehicles played a crucial role in the early distribution network across Australia.
Hazell Bros Mack Truck (1983)
Founded in 1944 by brothers Donald and Rowley Hazell, Hazell Bros started as a transport business operating in Southern Tasmania. In the photo above, you can see one of the founders, Donald Hazell, alongside driver Scotty McDougal, who dedicated many years to both companies.
Vacuum Oil Company Pty. Ltd. Invoice (1962)
We also found a vintage invoice from 1962 that adds a fascinating touch to the history. This cash receipt serves as a reminder of the long-standing relationships that Mobil has built over decades. All these trucks were important in ensuring that all products reached various sites across Tasmania.
Since its establishment, Hazell Bros has maintained a large privately owned fleet of vehicles and equipment. They have consistently delivered outstanding service and innovative solutions in civil construction; quarry and concrete products; and logistics and plant hire. Comparing Hazell Bros’ new trucks with their historical counterparts shows a remarkable evolution over the years. It’s interesting to see how advancements in technology have transformed the transport industry, showcasing innovation while honoring the company’s rich heritage.
